Transformation driven by Tech delivery

If you are willing to consider external support to assist your organisation in a tech-driven transformation journey, then have a look below at an example of a “90-Day Induction Plan” which I execute hands-on on the basis of years of field experience matured by serving different kinds of entities operating in different industries (Telecoms, Financial Services, Aerospace, Oil & Gas); naturally this is not silver-bullet template and may be subject to “change & adapt” once I’ve gathered initial info, business and operational requirements.

Discovery & Strategy

First 30 Days:

  • Review the business case and validate the ultimate goal/s for pursuing transformation
  • Learn about departments, teams and stakeholders expected to contribute to the initiative
  • Learn about departments, teams and stakeholders expected to benefit from the outcome
  • Identify what is fit-for-purpose for delivering change
  • Identify what can be improved ahead, or during execution
  • Collect information and feedback on quick wins and short-term focus areas
  • Draft a Change Strategy document by consolidating findings from earlier investigations

 

Change Engineering

30-60 Days:

  • Finalize quick tactical wins from areas of improvement determined earlier
  • Select group of Business representatives (max 5 people)
  • Select group of Tech Delivery representatives (max 5 people)
  • Select group of Operations representatives (if applicable, and again max 5 people)
  • Discuss risks, actions, issues and dependencies considered relevant by the selected groups
  • Review, or create, time management practices to be adopted by the Tech Delivery group
  • Interim retrospective and review of initial findings together with Leadership to iron-out early blockers
  • ITERATION ZERO to deliver quick wins by engaging relevant groups (1 or 2 weeks)
  • Change Strategy finalization

 

Delivery Enablement

60-90 Days:

  • Review of quick wins as delivered earlier
  • Creation of Business Backlog with relevant epics and/or user stories (1 week max)
  • Creation of Tech Delivery Backlog with relevant epics and/or user stories (1 week max)
  • Creation of Operations Backlog with relevant epics and/or user stories (1 week max)
  • Creation of a v1 RAID log by consolidating earlier findings and assign ownership to individual log items
  • Setup of an initial set of KPIs with initial focus on measuring delivery performance

 

Further support can be agreed and provided for the actual transformation delivery phase and subsequent business/operational enablement.
